Peace In Believing Ministries
OUR MINISTRIES
Adult Sunday School
Teacher: Perecy N. Avomba
Acts 2:42 ESV "they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship"
Acts 11:23 ESV "remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose"
Acts 20:27 ESV "I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God."
The purpose of Adult Sunday School at St. John Church is:
-
to faithfully teach the Bible to our flock
-
to encourage believers in sharing common fellowship
-
to develop steadfast followers of Christ
We fulfill our purpose by equipping our members to serve Jesus Christ as useful instruments. This growth starts at home, thrives in the nurture of the church, spreads into our community, and extends wherever we go.
Women
Women have important ministries in their communities, churches and homes:
-
Women carry children in their wombs to full term for nine months
-
They are a good pattern of patience, sufferings, perseverance, endurance, good works
-
They ministered to the needs of our Lord Jesus.
-
They minister to needs of men.
-
Women are virtuous mothers. Proverbs 31
-
Women are leaders, such as Miriam the sister of Moses. She led others in singing, celebrating the Lord's victory and redemption of the nation Israel from destruction by the Egyptians, whom the Lord destroyed in the Red Sea.
-
Women are a symbol of the church: our relationship with Jesus as His bride. Ephesians 5:22-33
-
Women love the Lord Jesus Christ, like Mary and her sister Martha
-
Anna is an example of a godly woman: a widow who remained at the temple, praying and fasting as she looked forward to the coming of the Messiah who will redeem nation Israel. Luke 2:36-38
Youth
Directors: Maruti Nakhisa and Nelson Wanjala
St. John Church provides Biblical training to people from age 10 to 18. We plan and lead activities geared to young people.
The purpose of this ministry is to promote spiritual awareness and growth in young people, and to train them to be faithful believers. They will eventually take active roles in the church.
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable, for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
1 Timothy 4:14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of hands of the eldership.
Titus 2:6 Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober minded.
Titus 2:7 In all things, showing yourselves to be a pattern of good works, in doctrine, showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility.
Titus 2:8 Sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
Children
Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
